My Teaching Approach

I tailor my lessons to each student so that every student can develop at their own pace and according to their abilities. Anyone with an interest in painting is welcome—from art academy graduates to absolute beginners. I encourage all my students to preserve their own unique "artistic signature" and develop their personal style.

Oil Painting Courses

Oil painting classes are held in Putte on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 10:15 AM to 12:45 PM. You are welcome to bring your own materials or use mine (available for an additional fee).

Our first assignment is an alla prima study in black and white. Here, the sole focus is on form, lighting, and brushwork. After this exercise, we move on to layered, fine-art painting, focusing primarily on figurative art. Step-by-step, I will teach you how to set up a drawing with correct proportions, master the steps of opaque and transparent painting, work with essential elements, and handle the right contrasts and color palettes.

Workshops

Workshops are held from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at various locations across the Netherlands and Belgium. The objective is for participants to complete an alla prima (wet-on-wet) canvas painting within three hours—a goal that every participant successfully achieves by following my step-by-step guidance.

The process begins by establishing correct proportions and sketching the subject with pastel pencils. We then focus on layering and blending colors, selecting the appropriate palette, and using the right brushes to achieve excellent coverage.

I provide brief, clear demonstrations throughout the session. While the workshop is intensive, it is incredibly rewarding as participants watch a realistic piece of art come to life and get to take their finished masterpiece home.
